Faculties

The building of Joint Seagoing Schools and Merchant Marine Ship Engineers named after Emperor Peter I (Vasilyevskiy Ostrov, Line 22, building № 9) was launched in 1909. Since that time the Faculty has trained over 8000 ship engineers and ship electrical engineers on full-time studying terms. Over 4,000 cadets have graduated from the extra-mural department . The graduates of the Faculty work for various Russian and foreign shipping companies.

The Faculty of Ship’s Power Supply and Propulsion Systems provides training for engineers:

 specialization 180403.65, 180404.65, 180405.65, 180407.65:

- Operation of ship power plants;

- Operation of  ship nuclear power plants;

- Operation of ship electrical and automation equipment;

- Operation of  electrical and automation equipment for ships with nuclear power plants;

The cadets of the Faculty are provided by the government with full board including accommodation,  food and uniforms.

To become ship engineers the cadets of the Faculty study ship  internal combustion engines, ship  turbines, auxiliary machinery, boilers, refrigeration systems and other subjects on their major. To become ship electrical engineers the cadets study the theory of electrical engineering, automation, electronics, computers, electrical machinery, ship power systems, propulsion electrical plants and other subjects on their major.

In addition to the theoretical studying the curricula incorporates practical training on board marine ships. Practical training on ship repairing skills and electrical installation works is also provided for the cadets in the workshops and laboratories of the Faculty, as well as in the industry enterprises and shipyards of  Russia and foreign countries.

The graduates get two graduation diplomas:  State Diploma of Higher Professional Education and Certificate of Competence of Ship Electrical Engineer. These diplomas are recognized by all international maritime organizations and enable the graduate to work on board sfips of  Russian as well as foreign companies.

During the training period the cadets are carrying out their scientific studies, doing various sports activities, go in for cultural, creative and artistic activities.

Best cadets, those who have remarkable achievements in studying, social activity, scientific researches and sports, are granted with personal scholarships from Russian as well as foreign companies. After graduating from the Faculty all graduates are provided with a prestigious job in the Russian and foreign companies.
