Courses of Professor Paul Wlodkowski

In the middle of May Professor Paul Wlodkowski completed his courses in the Introduction to Reliability Engineering and Technical Communications. In our previous articles we have already informed you about Paul Wlodkowski, Ph.D., Professor of Engineering of Maine Maritime Academy, U.S. As you probably remember, he arrived to the University as a Fulbright Fellow to teach the cadets of the Department of Ship’s Power Supply and Propulsion Systems for six months, during January-June 2015.

We should say that lectures on a foreign language, mainly, on English, conducted by a professor from other international institution occur to be rather rare event in our University life. Not every student or cadet gets a lucky chance to have classes at the international professor. Those students who get lucky they are able to upgrade their knowledge in the major subjects as well as to practice their English.

In that respect the senior engine cadets of the 4th and 5th years of study of the Department of Ship’s Power Supply and Propulsion Systems were fortunate most of all. During the spring semester they got a great opportunity to attend the lectures and practical classes taught by the eminent American professor Paul Wlodkowski.

The cadets greatly benefited from taking the courses of Professor Wlodkowski who has many years of practical industrial experience in the United States and speaks excellent, fluent Russian. His classes were in great request among the cadets. Due to Professor Wlodkowski’s lectures the cadets will be able to enhance their knowledge and skills in their majors. In addition the students managed to improve their English through international and intercultural communication with the Professor during the classes. His lectures made the students look at their profession from a new angle and to see new perspectives and horizons in their future career. After completion the cadets were awarded with the certificates which will become priceless and a beneficial advantage when building their maritime career.

On behalf of the University, Department of Ship’s Power Supply and Propulsion Systems, and cadets we would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Professor Paul Wlodkowski for the work done at the Department of Ship’s Power Supply and Propulsion Systems, his personal involvement and his advertency to the cadets and certainly, for his interesting and cognitive classes.

We believe that the event of that kind will not become single. We believe it will lay down a solid basis for further development of faculty exchange and research projects with Maine Maritime Academy and other international maritime institutions all over the world.
